  • Solicit, receive, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings and design reviews to align estimates with project goals and design intent.
  • Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and construction teams during design‑build pursuits to support integrated project delivery.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost‑saving alternatives while maintaining project quality and performance requirements.
  • Analyze project risks, constructability concerns, and schedule impacts to inform estimate assumptions and recommendations.
  • Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop scope clarifications, bid analyses, and proposal packages to support competitive bids and client presentations.
  • Support project handoff activities and estimate turnover meetings to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.
  • Maintain estimating databases and current market pricing information to improve consistency and reliability of estimates.
  • Track historical costs and market trends to continuously improve estimating accuracy and forecasting.
  • Assist with client presentations and budget discussions as needed, providing clear explanations of assumptions and cost drivers.
Essential Skills

  • Proficiency with Accubid or similar electrical estimating software to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost calculations.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, low‑voltage systems, fire alarm systems, and controls.

  • Ability to develop comprehensive labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect cost estimates.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope and requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations and make data‑driven decisions.
  • Capability to participate effectively in preconstruction meetings and design reviews with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Skill in identifying value engineering options and cost‑saving alternatives without compromising project objectives.
  • Ability to analyze project risks, constructability issues, and schedule impacts and incorporate them into estimates.
  • Experience preparing conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP estimates.
  • Proficiency in maintaining estimating databases and tracking historical costs and market trends.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working on design‑build projects in collaboration with architecture, engineering, and construction teams.
  • Comfort presenting estimates and budgets to clients and internal stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working closely with project managers, engineers, architects, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple estimates and deadlines.
  • Interest in continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and market intelligence.
