YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

The Estimator I is responsible for preparing and completing bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The Estimator controls construction costs by collecting and studying information, evaluating bid specifications and drawings, and understanding what is required to successfully bid and win projects.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

1. Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
2. Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and entering data into the estimating system; review for accuracy and completeness.
3. Request quotes from suppliers for equipment and materials.
4. Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes; review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications.
5. Itemize and quantify all incidentals needed for bids, including sub-contract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies.
6. Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing before issuing formal bid packages.
7. Meet with Project Management after winning bids to explain estimates, scope, quotes, and transition details.
8. Complete all client-required documents timely.
9. Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates.
10. Maintain backup files of working documents for estimate figures.

The duties described are intended to outline the general scope of work. Other duties may be assigned based on the role within the business unit.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

• Advanced knowledge of construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control.
• Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
• Proficiency in performing arithmetic calculations for estimating.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong customer needs identification and expectation management.
• Problem-solving skills with limited standardization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing requirements.
• Effective communication skills both oral and written.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and team-oriented attitude.
• Professional interaction with employees, vendors, clients, and others.

WHAT YOU BRING TO US:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' estimating experience in commercial construction, preferably electrical.
• Experience with Accubid estimating software.
• Experience with CAD or 3D software.
• Combination of education, training, and relevant experience acceptable.

TRAVEL: Up to 25%

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Primarily indoor work environment with varying conditions, including fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
• Noise levels low to medium; loud on job sites.
• Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
