Electrical Estimator Job Description

With over forty years in business and numerous projects in local communities, NSI Electrical Contractors is an organization built on longevity and pride. As a small family office, we seek an outgoing, self-starting individual who can work independently and contribute to a team-oriented environment. As our Electrical Estimator, you will:

1. Support our project management team with estimating operations.
2. Collaborate on short-term and long-term company goals.

Familiarity with Deltek/CE, Accubid Pro16 (or Pro11), and AutoCAD is a plus.

Summary

Responsible for producing competitive project estimates as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and cultivate project/customer leads, read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Prepare preliminary scope of work and conduct pre-bid surveys.
• Perform unit takeoffs, gather data for estimates, maintain current pricing information, solicit quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
• Prepare vendor and subcontractor price sheets, review takeoffs with managers.
• Advise on labor rates, production rates, and material discounts, assist in project budgeting.
• Prepare change order estimates and utilize software effectively for bidding.
• Maintain relationships with general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

Regular attendance and the ability to pass background checks are required. The candidate should have:

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED; 4-6 years related experience or equivalent.

Language Ability

Ability to interpret business and technical documents, and communicate effectively.

Reasoning Ability

Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret instructions.

Computer Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, internet software.
• Familiarity with Accubid Pro 16/11, Deltek/CE, AutoCAD is a plus.

Certificates and Licenses

Valid Driver's License.

Knowledge and Skills

• Honesty, trustworthiness, teamwork, organization, attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Moderate noise, exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, outdoor weather. Physical ability to operate office equipment, lift up to 40 pounds, and perform various physical activities.
