Job summary

Recore Electrical Contractors, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Electrical Estimator to join our team just outside Charlotte, NC.

The role focuses on estimating costs for industrial electrical installations, and bidding competitively on projects while collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients. Ideal candidates will have a degree in electrical-related fields and experience reading blueprints and using ConEst.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in electrical estimating, preferably in industrial construction or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency with estimating software ConEst and spreadsheet tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards governing industrial electrical installations.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation: Analyze project requirements to estimate costs of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services for industrial installations.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed, competitive bids with pricing breakdowns and exclusions/assumptions.
  • Collaboration: Work with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to gather information and finalize bids.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to identify cost savings.
  • Risk Management: Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize overruns.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and project docs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and technologies in electrical estimation.

Recore Electric has a new position available for an Industrial Electrical Estimator.

Overview:

The Industrial Electrical Estimator plays a critical role in the construction industry, specializing in estimating costs and resources required for electrical installations in industrial settings. This role involves analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to accurately determine the materials, labor, and time needed to complete electrical projects within industrial facilities. The Industrial Electrical Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost estimates and competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Cost Estimation: Analyze project requirements, including blueprints, technical specifications, and other documentation, to accurately estimate the costs of electrical installations within industrial settings. This includes estimating the quantity and cost of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services required for the project.
  2. Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bids for industrial electrical projects, considering factors such as labor rates, material costs, overhead, profit margins, and project timelines. Develop comprehensive bid proposals that clearly outline the scope of work, pricing breakdowns, and any exclusions or assumptions.
  3. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to gather relevant information, clarify project requirements, and address any issues or concerns related to electrical estimates. Collaborate with other departments within the organization to ensure accurate and timely completion of bids.
  4. Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and value engineering assessments to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in electrical designs and installations. Evaluate alternative materials, methods, and technologies to optimize project costs without compromising quality or safety.
  5. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties associated with electrical projects, such as changes in project scope, market conditions, and regulatory requirements. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and minimize cost overruns during project execution.
  6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all cost estimates, bid proposals, correspondence, and project-related documentation. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements governing bid preparation and submission.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in electrical construction and estimation. Participate in training programs, seminars, and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge related to industrial electrical estimation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in electrical estimating, preferably in industrial construction or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately quantify materials and labor requirements.
  • Proficiency with estimating software ConEst.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in estimation software, spreadsheet applications, and other relevant tools used in electrical construction estimating.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards governing industrial electrical installations.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
