Job summary

Forj Medical in Saint Paul, MN, seeks Electrical Engineering Technicians to join our team developing Class II/III medical devices from concept to production. You will build and test prototype electrical assemblies, support embedded design, and participate in hardware verification.

This role values hands-on problem solving, teamwork, and accurate documentation, with opportunities to mentor others. A two-year tech degree or higher is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Two-year tech degree or higher preferred.
  • 2-4 years technical experience in medical, military and/or avionics.
  • Proficient at quickly solving medium-complexity problems.
  • Familiarity with sensors, A/D conversion, filtering, and RF preferred.
  • Ability to create drawings and write detailed, compliant technical documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build, solder RoHS and/or non-RoHS components 0402 or smaller passives & QFN packages, cable, and test prototype electrical assemblies.
  • Embedded design support.
  • Limited/simple schematic design.
  • Develop and perform hardware testing.
  • Test, troubleshooting, assembly, and rework of electronic systems, including extensive work on surface mount and through hole PCBs.
  • Lab and prototype parts - inventory ordering, control, and management.
  • Tool maintenance and support including ESD testing and calibration.
  • Component library development assistance as needed.
  • Some mechanical fixturing and assembly.
  • Assist manufacturing, production and/or quality assurance with design transfer activities, fixtures, builds, inspection, documentation, etc.
  • Assist with other technical tasks as requested.
  • Provide supporting detailed documentation.
  • Estimate budgets and schedules for assigned activities.
  • May provide mentorship and direction to less experienced technicians.

Job Summary

Electrical Engineering Technicians apply Forj Medical Standard Operating Procedures while working cross functionally to bring products from concept through development and into production. This involves working with project leaders, engineers and other technicians to build & test prototype electrical assemblies, fixtures, some mechanical assemblies; provide lab equipment maintenance; & perform other tasks as needed. Electrical Engineering Technicians are encouraged to be creative & innovative, while at the same time learn and follow the Forj Medical structured processes. Engineering Technicians may take direction from management, engineers, project leaders and/or senior technicians. They will assume an appropriate level of responsibility for technical work to assist in the development or manufacture of products, fixtures or prototypes while supporting the creation of new Class II/III medical devices. Electrical Engineering Technicians are expected to contribute to the team while enhancing their own technical expertise and increasing their responsibilities. They may be required to complete substantial assignments on major projects of moderate complexity. Assignments may be broad in nature and require self-determined, self-directed solutions.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The salary range for this position is outlined below under "Job Details" and is dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable employment laws.
