Job summary

Tucson Electric Power is seeking an Engineering Technician to develop and maintain engineering data in line with company standards and procedures. The role covers data collection for distribution and transmission models, design of residential/service installations, and preparation of Construction Work Orders using the company’s software packages.

(Level I focuses on basic field data handling and process adherence, with growth into Level II and III responsibilities including design of line

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook (and other Office apps).
Ability to work independently and with others.
Ability to work in field conditions: walk on unimproved surfaces to collect field data on existing electric facilities.
Ability to work long hours at a computer and learn defined procedures for data collection in engineering applications.
Must possess and maintain a valid AZ Driver’s license.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of field data collection gear when needed.
GIS systems knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of electric utility construction standards preferred.
Knowledge of electric utility construction materials preferred.

Responsibilities

Collect, modify and update field data used in models of the electric distribution and transmission system.
Collect data for subsequent design work.
Design service installations for residential and small commercial customers.
Prepare Construction Work Orders using company software packages.
Seek to expand personal knowledge and skills for position responsibilities.
Assist with other department functions as needed.
