Job summary

Seaboard Foods is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician for our Guymon processing facility. You will support design, development, installations, testing, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems on a designated shift.

You will troubleshoot, perform preventive/corrective maintenance, and collaborate with engineers and operations to ensure safe, reliable production in a food-processing environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology with two years of relevant experience, or four years in related electrical/automation work.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control-panel drawings.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written, with ability to interpret blueprints and documentation.
  • Experience with electrical test and diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and automation systems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical distribution, motor control, instrumentation, and control-system components.
  • Assist engineers with design, development, installation, testing, and modification of electrical/control systems.
  • Configure and test HMI, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, motors, and networks; wire and install panels and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and company specifications; collaborate with cross-functional teams.

We have an exciting Electrical Engineering Technician opportunity in our Guymon processing facility which harvests over 21,500 animals daily. This position is part of a specialized team responsible for supporting all phases of design, development, installations, testing, and maintenance of all electrical and mechanical equipment and systems used for production on a designated shift. The specialist will monitor, identify, and troubleshoot shortcomings and issues in existing processes, systems, and procedures, using change management to resolve them while adhering to workplace and food safety protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, instrumentation, control, and automated systems using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, diagnostic equipment, and knowledge of circuit analysis, programmable logic controllers, industrial networks, sensors, motors, and feedback devices.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical distribution, motor control, instrumentation, automation, and control-system components.
  • Assist engineers with the design, development, installation, testing, commissioning, and modification of electrical and control systems
  • Configure, program, test, and troubleshoot human-machine interfaces, variable-frequency drives, motor-control devices, safety systems, as well as up to programmable logic controllers robotic controllers, and industrial communication networks.
  • Assemble, install, wire, calibrate, maintain, and repair electrical panels, control devices, instrumentation, sensors, actuators, motors, and related equipment.
  • Interpret and update electrical schematics, panel drawings, control-system documentation, equipment specifications, and technical procedures.
  • Conduct electrical and functional testing using digital multimeters, insulation testers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, process calibrators, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities involving electrical failures, control-system malfunctions, recurring equipment faults, and process-performance issues.
  • Verify that electrical installations, modifications, and repairs comply with applicable codes, engineering standards, manufacturer requirements, and company specifications.
  • Communicate and collaborate with engineers, maintenance personnel, operations teams, contractors, and management to ensure electrical and automated equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, local, and company policies and procedures about workplace safety.
  • Communicate and collaborate with all levels of management to ensure automated equipment operates efficiently.
Required
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree or two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical field with two years of relevant experience or,
  • Four Years of relevant experience supporting electrical, electronic, instrumentation, automation, or industrial systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory, industrial control systems, and motor-control circuits.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, control-panel drawings, equipment manuals, and other engineering documentation.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and structured troubleshooting methods in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English, and ability to efficiently interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to use electrical test and diagnostic equipment, including digital multimeters, clamp meters, insulation-resistance testers, process calibrators, and other applicable troubleshooting tools.
  • Must be able to pass the Seaboard Foods Maintenance Test.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline or,
  • An equivalent combination of advanced technical education, certifications, training, and progressively responsible experience supporting electrical, electronic, instrumentation, automation, industrial control systems, or engineering support.
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory, industrial control systems, motor-control circuits, programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, sensors, and industrial communication systems.
  • Relevant industry certifications, electrical licensure, completed apprenticeship training, or manufacturer-specific technical training.
SCHEDULE
  • Forty-Eight (48) Hour Work Week
  • 12 Hour Days
  • 4 Consecutive Days on and 3 Consecutive Days Off
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility.
  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move above 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus while wearing safety glasses at all times on the production floor.
  • The duties of this job require a person to stop, bend, work off of knees, climb ladders, work in high areas up to 130 feet, work in dark areas, and work in confined spaces after being trained to do so.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work near moving mechanical parts, may be exposed to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and
  • The noise level in the work environment requires the position to wear hearing protection at all times on the production floor.
  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
