Job description

JOB TITLE: Electrical Engineering Team Lead
LOCATION: Austin, TX; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA, with 30% travel required.
DURATION: FTE Direct Hire
PAY RANGE: $300K - $365K; offers equity

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering supporting hyperscale data centers, mission-critical facilities, utility infrastructure, industrial facilities, power generation, or large-scale engineering projects.

  • 3+ years of direct people-management experience leading electrical engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, coaching, performance management, and technical leadership.

  • Demonstrated ownership of electrical engineering programs from utility interconnection through energization and operational turnover.

  • Experience leading electrical design and execution for medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, including substations, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, busway, PDUs, generators, grounding systems, and critical power infrastructure.

  • Strong experience reviewing and validating:

    • Short-circuit studies

    • Protective device coordination studies

    • Arc flash studies

    • Load flow studies

    • Electrical system calculations

  • Experience supporting site energization activities, startup planning, utility coordination, turnover, and operational readiness.

  • Experience managing engineering consultants, EORs, EPC partners, contractors, utilities, and cross-functional engineering teams.

  • Ability to make rapid engineering decisions during active construction and commissioning while balancing safety, reliability, schedule, and cost considerations.

  • Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously across various stages of design, construction, commissioning, and operations.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

  • Hyperscale data center experience.

  • AI infrastructure experience.

  • Utility interconnection experience.

  • Behind-the-meter generation experience.

  • Experience with:

    • ETAP

    • SKM

    • EasyPower

    • SEL Protection Systems

    • MV/HV infrastructure

  • Experience supporting:

    • 100MW+ facilities

    • Campus-scale deployments

    • Modular electrical systems

    • Prefabricated electrical infrastructure

  • Experience building and scaling engineering teams in high-growth environments.

  • Experience supporting commissioning and energization of mission-critical facilities.

THE CAPACITY DELIVERY TEAM:
Examples of key problems the team is working on:

  • Engineer gigawatts from drawing to energized, in months, not years. Capacity Delivery owns technical execution across every build: the drawings, the field questions, and the engineering calls that keep multiple concurrent gigawatt sites moving.

  • Engineer data centers that go up in months, not years. At that pace, rework is not an option: problems get caught on paper or they cost a data hall.

  • Design it once, build a hundred times. Every site's lessons roll into the reference design on the way to 10s to 100s of GWs, so each build starts ahead of the last.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own electrical engineering across the portfolio: distribution from utility interface to rack, reference design to energization.

  • Set and evolve the electrical reference design: switchgear lineups, UPS topology, and busway.

  • Make the field electrical calls at build speed and own energization readiness site by site.

  • Review consultant studies, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, critically rather than ceremonially.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would:

  • You've led electrical engineering for data center or heavy industrial builds.

  • You review protection and coordination studies and find the errors in them.

  • You've owned energization sequences with utilities and AHJs.

  • Your field decisions balance speed and safety without trading either away.

  • Bonus: PE license. MV and HV distribution. Behind-the-meter generation. Utility interconnection.
