Job Summary

Caterpillar Electrification + Energy Solutions Division is seeking an Electrical Design Engineering Specialist in Mossville, IL. This role involves defining and validating high voltage electrical systems and supporting ePowertrain integration for electrification programs (diesel-electric, battery-electric, hybrid) from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into high voltage electrical system designs, integrating power sources, drivetrain architectures, and accessories.
• Conduct electrical system auditing, troubleshooting, validation, and issue resolution, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and reliability.
• Analyze HV systems for protections and arc flash mitigation.
• Create electrical sub-system diagrams and size high voltage cables.
• Ensure proper overload protection device selection and coordination.
• Define, validate, and integrate high voltage components in machine powertrains.
• Support electrical safety standards (IEEE, NFPA, IEC, ISO, UN).
• Review cable and harness routings.
• Assist ePowertrain teams with software requirements and HV diagnostics.
• Provide on-site build support and develop HV system design guides.
• Troubleshoot and analyze field data; contribute to service literature.

Additional Responsibilities

• Educate partners on hazards and best practices for high voltage systems.
• Establish and document high voltage system integration best practices.
• Collaborate with software teams on machine software libraries and requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering.
• Experience with electric machine components, power electronics, batteries, and system integration.
• Proficiency in electrical schematics, troubleshooting, CAN communications, FMEAs, and working with >60V systems.

Compensation & Benefits
