Job summary

Los Alamos County is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead design and improvement efforts for the electric distribution network. You will plan, design, and implement reliability-enhancing projects while coordinating fault studies, load forecasting, and system coordination with operations teams.

The role requires a PE license or eligibility, plus supervisory experience. A project management certificate is preferred. A valid New Mexico driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college.
• Five years of experience in electric distribution design and operations.
• Two years of supervisory experience across all years of job-related experience.
• New Mexico Professional Engineer license or registration in another state with eligibility to register in NM within six months.
• Must possess, or obtain within first thirty days, a valid New Mexico Class “D” driver’s license.

SUPERVISOR: Deputy Utility Manager-Electric Distribution

$15,000 RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE PAY
$7,500 ON THE SECOND FULL PAY PERIOD AFTER NEW HIRE AND $7,500 AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF SIX (6) MONTH PROBATION PERIOD

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Deputy Utility Manager-Electric Distribution, plans, designs and implements improvements to the electric distribution system to optimize reliability. Oversees and performs fault studies, loads forecasts and system coordination. Coordinates with operations personnel to improve system performance and safety. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering.
• Five years’ experience in electric distribution design and operations.
• Two years of supervisory experience across all years of job-related experience.
• New Mexico Professional Engineer or registration in a different state with the ability to become registered in New Mexico within six months of employment.
• Must possess, or ability to obtain within first thirty days of employment and maintain a valid New Mexico Class “D” driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years experience with power system studies, implementing and trouble shooting fuse and relay coordination.
• Project Management Certificate.
