Job summary

Selectek is seeking an Engineering Manager - Electrical in Tampa. The role leads a multi-disciplinary electrical team on commercial projects, balancing people management with hands-on design work.

Strong technical leadership and BIM coordination are essential to ensure schedules, budgets, and code compliance across phases. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years in electrical management, PE licensure, and experience with design-build or fast-track methods.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading and coordinating multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • At least 10 years of experience in electrical engineering management and design of commercial buildings, preferably in aviation, higher education, health care, hospitality, entertainment, or governmental facilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experience with design-build, design-bid-construct, fast-track and other construction delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and national codes; incl. laws, regulations, liabilities affecting engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Performs workload management and allocates projects to team members.
  • Determines scope and uses software to design electrical systems (lighting, power distribution, etc.).
  • Communicates project status with peers and supervisors.
  • Trains and mentors team members; coaches on performance.
  • Works with Director on recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Determines cost-effective system layouts and verifies code compliance.
  • Prepares BIM drawings and coordinates with other disciplines through all project phases.
  • Performs construction administration tasks: site observations, punch lists, shop drawing reviews.
