Job summary

PPL Corporation is seeking engineering interns/co-ops for PPL Electric Utilities in Allentown, PA to support transmission and distribution work. You will be assigned to a supervisor, work on meaningful projects, and present outcomes to PPL leaders at the end of the program.

Ideal candidates are enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited program (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) with a 2.50 GPA, able to travel, and possess a valid driver's license for in-person work during program dates.

Qualifications

• Available in person full time (35-40 hr./week M-F) during the program dates.
• Travel within the service territory required.
• Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence.
• Currently enrolled on a full-time basis (12 semester hours) in an ABET accredited program leading to a baccalaureate or master's degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 2.50.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for improvement and/or suggest improved methods.
• Gather, correlate, and analyze specific data using established procedures.
• Perform detailed and/or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests and analysis.
• Perform a variety of routine tasks that will improve the individual’s familiarization with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the Company.
• Support operating and maintenance functions with engineering analysis, troubleshooting, problem identification, problem resolution activities.
• Assist Engineers with large projects, as needed.
• Assist with the development of engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs and procedures.
• Plan and control all activities to provide an accident-free workplace.
• Conducts work activities regarding environmental rules and regulations.
• Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Comply with all policies and standards and perform other duties as assigned.
