Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to work with senior engineers on the design, development, and testing of power electronics and embedded systems used in surgical imaging equipment. The role offers hands-on experience across hardware design, simulation, prototyping, and verification within a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Physics.

• Willing to relocate to Salt Lake City, UT.
• Available for 10 weeks full-time over the summer.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and analysis of power distribution and embedded systems.
• Support PCB design and electrical component selection.
• Perform electrical simulation and prototyping.
• Contribute to interconnect and cable designs.
• Verification and testing support of electrical designs.
• Reliability and failure analysis of components.
• Prepare design analysis reports and part/assembly reviews.
• Support manufacturing and Lean initiatives.

Job Description Summary

An Electrical Engineering Intern role is an educational opportunity for an Engineering student to work alongside senior engineers in the design and development of electrical systems and solutions for the Power Electronics, Embedded Systems, or X-Ray utilized in the top surgical imaging solutions, a.k.a. OEC C-arms. This role will be responsible for individual and team assignments and will work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, manufacture and service complex surgical imaging systems and components throughout all phases of the product development life cycle. Activities include detailed electrical system design and integration of sub-systems and components related to surgical imaging solutions, including analysis, prototyping, simulation, documentation, testing, and verification of hardware.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of power distribution design, embedded system design, motion control, wired/wireless networking, and other sub-components used in surgical imaging solutions.
• Perform power distribution analysis, including determination of power, power budgets and test verification.
• Electrical Simulation and Design of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and electrical components
• Interconnect & Cable designs.
• Verification and Validation of electrical design, including supporting engineering builds and testing.
• Reliability analysis of components and systems.
• Failure analysis of electrical & electrical-mechanical components.
• Preparation/presentation of design analysis reports and part/assembly drawing reviews.
• Support Manufacturing and Lean initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent major
• Sophomore year minimum
• GPA: 3.0 (based a 4.0 scale)
• Willing to relocate to Salt Lake City, UT
• Ability to work a minimum of 10 weeks full time over the summer.
