Job summary

K2 Space is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team for a 3-month internship. You will work closely with engineers to develop electrical designs spanning PCBA to full systems and gain exposure to subsystems in a fast-paced satellite program.

You will design electronics, qualify through environmental tests, and collaborate with stakeholders to integrate hardware into spacecraft. Some exposure to C/C++, Python, and Matlab is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering.
• Strong PCB design experience is preferred for spacecraft hardware.
• Familiarity with power electronics and mixed-signal design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design electronics PCBAs for spacecraft including architecture, component selection, circuit board design, board bring up and debugging.
• Qualify designs through environmental testing (vibration, shock, thermal, thermal vacuum).
• Integrate designs into spacecraft systems and operate hardware in flight.

The Role

We’relooking for a stellarElectricalEngineeringIntern to join our team for a3 monthinternship. Working closely with our engineers, you willbe responsible fordeveloping novel electrical designs spanning from PCBAs to full systems. You will work hands-on with novel power, digital, and mixed signal designs used across the satellite while getting exposure to other subsystems within the engineering organization. K2 Space is a highly collaborativeenvironmentand our interns will be encouraged to work with mentors and other team members to execute complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Design electronics PCBAs for spacecraft including architecture,componentselection, circuit board design, board bring up and debugging

• Qualify your designs through environmental testing including vibration, shock, thermal, and thermal vacuum testing

• Work with internal and external stakeholders to integrate your designs into the spacecraft systems and operate your hardware in flight

• Develop test equipment, development PCBAs, and test scripts to assistwithall of the above

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in aBachelor’s or Master’sdegree in electrical or computer engineering

Nice to Have

• Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers

• Experience designing multi-layer PCBAs for high-speed digital applications

• Experience withhigh performancekW scale isolated power converter design

• Experience designing analog control loops, solid state load switches, motor inverters, EMI/EMC compliance, or sensor signal conditioning circuits

• Experience with digital processors, FPGAs, memory chips, or network switches

• Proficient with circuit simulation tools such asLTspiceE

• Experience with load switch design and power path protection schemes

• Experience programming in C/C++, Python, orMatlab

Compensation

• Hourly pay range for this non-exempt role is $30 - $40 per hour

• Hourly rate will be based on several factors including, but not limitedto:knowledge and skills, education, and experience level

• Housing and travel stipend may also be available
