Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to contribute to avionics hardware development for spacecraft programs. You will work closely with mentors, engaging in requirements through design, prototyping, testing, and production to build real hardware.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an engineering degree with at least one semester remaining, maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher, and have 3+ months of applied engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree program in an engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, physics or math discipline and have at least one semester of school remaining post internship.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable).
• Nice‑to‑have GPA 3.5 or above and 6+ months of applied engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge to development and testing of avionics hardware for spacecraft programs.
• Work with mentors and engineers to deliver results across design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production.
• Attend frequent 1:1s with mentors and supervisors to facilitate success and learning.
• Participate in tech talks and intern networking events.

AsanElectricalEngineering Intern based at Rocket Lab’s site in Long Beach, California, you will have the opportunity to participate in the development and test of avionics hardware for our spacecraft programs. You will work collaboratively with engineers of various disciplines and participate in all aspects of electrical hardware development, from requirements definition through design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE

• GPA of 3.5 or above
• 6+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)
• Experience with a schematic capture tool (preferably Altium)
• Experience building custom circuits
• Experience in PCB/PCBA layout design
• Familiarity with electronics test equipment such as multimeters, and oscilloscopes
• Knowledge of programming/scripting languages: C/C++, Python, VHDL, Verilog 5.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to work full‑time, on‑site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027

COMPENSATION AND OTHER BENEFITS

• Pay Range CA: $28.00 USD Hourly
• You may be eligible for a stipend to subsidize relocation costs
