Purpose: This internship is based in Santa Clara, California and offers a unique opportunity for students passionate about electrical engineering design, development, and integration into medical robotics. Electrical engineering interns will work alongside other engineering domains such as mechanical, mechatronics, controls, software, and clinical engineering. This will support the prototyping, development, test, and production of surgical robotic platforms that will improve patient outcomes worldwide.
As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will design, prototype, test and integrate multi‑layer PCBA’s for use in a complex medical device system. You will work with across engineering functions to make contributions in the fields of robotics, surgical instruments, and more. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and opportunities for project growth within the team as we progress towards realizing our vision.
Role Variability: This internship track covers a range of electrical engineering roles, including design, assembly, manufacturing, and test. Responsibilities will vary depending on the specific project, team, or role, providing a broad experience in robotics hardware development.
Nice-to-Have: Ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and adopt new AI tools and platforms to meet evolving project needs. Basic understanding of medical device development and design control. Prior prototyping design and/or firmware design. Experience with basic scripting in Python or Matlab. Experience with PCB design software such as Altium, Eagle, or KiCad. Prior internship or Co-op experience recommended.

The expected base pay for this position is Sophomore $32/hr, Junior $35.50/hr, Senior $39/hr, Master’s degree $46.50/hr, PhD degree $61/hr.
