Job summary

Atwell, LLC is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern in the O&G group to support design and analysis under the guidance of a Professional Engineer. You will be part of an integrated design team, coordinating with members to meet schedules and budgets.

You will assist with substation design, power system modeling, and preparation of drawings and reports, while learning codes and standards in a fast-paced environment. Compensation offers an hourly pay range and formal internship experience.

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology, electric power option preferred.
  • Experience: Relevant coursework or project experience in engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision-maker in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to assist in power delivery projects within the O&G industrial sector, including substation engineering design and power system modeling.
  • Assist in creating design products such as equipment general arrangements, single-line diagrams, elevations, connection details, and BOMs.
  • Prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies.
  • Support studies including load flow, short circuit, grounding, and illumination calculations.
  • Assist in preparing project documents, cost estimates, budgets, and studies.
  • Research applicable Codes and Standards and stay updated.
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules.
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned.

About the Position

As a Electrical Engineering Intern in the O&G group, you will support engineering design and analysis under the guidance of a Professional Engineer. You will be part of an integrated design team, coordinating with team members to meet project schedules and deliverables on time and within the defined budget.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to assist in various power delivery projects within the O&G industrial sector, such as substation engineering design, transmission and distribution design, behind-the-meter power system modeling, as well as other project related tasks
  • Assist in creating design products such as equipment general arrangements, single-line diagrams, elevations, connection details, bill of materials, construction details, grounding details, conduit plans, illumination plans, etc.
  • Prepares computer-based models and perform power system studies
  • Supports electrical power system studies, including equipment sizing, specification, and selection, load flow, reactive power, ampacity, short circuit, grounding, illumination, arc flash, harmonics, system loss, etc.
  • Assists in preparing various documents and reports associated with projects, including cost estimates, budget reports, and studies.
  • Research and develop a strong understanding and comprehension of applicable Codes and Standards.
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines.
  • Other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
Must Have
  • Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred.
  • Experience: Relevant coursework or project experience in engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision-maker comfortable in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Pay Range - $20.00 - $27.00 an hour depending on location.
