Job summary

Andis is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern/Co-op for Spring 2027. The role is primarily onsite in Racine, WI, with some remote work possibility, starting January. You will support the Electrical Engineering team with testing, design changes, and documentation.

Responsibilities include product and battery testing, PCB and component testing, microcontroller programming in C, and producing clear test reports. Prototyping and 2D/3D drafting support are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an accredited technical degree (Associate/Bachelor) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with circuit/PCB design software is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical materials and prepare engineering change notices and documentation.
• Strong mathematical background applicable to engineering concepts and design calculations.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical engineering team with tests and design changes.
• Perform product and battery testing, including voltage, current, temp checks.
• Test PCBs, components (FETs, BJTs, MCUs, charge controllers) and motors.
• Program microcontrollers using C or similar languages.
• Create test reports highlighting results and trends.
• Assist with 2D drawings using Electrical CAD/AutoCAD; 3D model adjustments in SolidWorks.

We are looking for 1 Intern/Co-op for the Spring 2027semester who can work full-time, primarily onsite (with the possibility of some remote work) , with employment starting in January. An Electrical Engineering Co-op/Intern will support the Electrical Engineering team by performing tests and design changes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Upholds Andis Core Values in all work-related activities.
• Product Testing – Including but not limited to: Voltage, Current, temperature, etc.
• Motor Testing – Speed, Torque, Power, Efficiency, etc.
• Lithium-Ion Battery Testing
• PCB Functionality Testing
• Component Testing – FETs, BJTs, Microcontrollers, Charge Controllers, etc.
• Programs Microcontrollers using C programming language or similar.
• Electronics innovation utilizing development boards.
• Investigates field failures and determines root cause of failure down to component level.
• Develops test reports that clearly highlight test results.
• Competitor product teardowns and investigation.
• Processes written Engineering Change Requests. Engineering change requests including various 2D drafting work using Electrical CAD, AutoCAD, bill of material changes and the writing of an Engineering Change Notice. This work is being done under close direction from a designer or engineer.
• Utilizes knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, and other physical sciences to create or change 2D drawings using Electrical CAD, and or AutoCAD.
• Makes small design changes to 3D models previously created using the Solid Works program is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited technical school or university studying toward an associate/ bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronic or Equivalent Engineering degree program.
• Proficient in MS Office, preferably Word, Power point and Excel. Experience with Circuit and PCB design software is a plus (Example – KiCad , Eagle, Altium, etc.). Experience with circuit simulation software is a plus (Example – LTSpice , Multisim, etc.) Experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write Engineering Change Notices and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Engineers, Designers and Peers.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
