Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field and must have completed at least two years of study.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
• Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

Responsibilities

• Build analytic and design skills.
• Conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under supervision.
• Collect and analyzes data under supervision.
• Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Perform work in accordance with budget and schedule under supervision.
• Design and document normal, standby and emergency power distribution systems.
• Design and document lighting systems for interior and exterior applications.
• Perform calculations to support designs.
• Work through all project design phases including construction administration.
• Work on varying project types and sizes including laboratories, educational facilities, office spaces, mission critical facilities, and cultural facilities.
• Work in a team environment.

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to be based in Arlington, VA.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027.

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field and must have completed at least two of years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.


• Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Use AutoCAD and/or Revit for creating construction documents, sketches, etc.


• Knowledge of SKM and/or ETAP to perform electrical studies.


• Knowledge of AGi32 software to perform lighting calculations.


• Experience of design work for new construction and renovation projects.


• Prior internship experience utilizing drafting, surveying, and/or construction administration skills.

• Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.


• Relocation assistance is not available for this position.


• This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes office work in Arlington, VA. The selected candidate must be available to work in Arlington, VA.
