1898 & Co., part of Burns & McDonnell, is seeking an Engineering Intern in Newton, MA. You will assist with standard engineering tasks, data entry, documentation and supporting lead engineers on diverse projects across market segments.
The role emphasizes presenting solutions, researching issues, continuous improvement, and ad hoc project work. Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (ABET preferred) with a 3.0 GPA and US work authorization.
Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned. Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentation.
Assist with responses to general questions.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
Present solutions to concerns.
Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Pursuit of bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program.
ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

$21.50-41.00 Hourly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.
