Description

You will provide technical supervision and support reviews on interesting and challenging projects that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues to support single and multi-discipline projects. This is a Part Time Temporary Role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical supervision to ensure successful completion of electrical engineering project deliverables to meet all technical, quality, financial, and project controls expectations.
  • Initiating and conveying scope of work to group members.
  • Defining deliverables (e.g., calculations, specs, drawings, design change etc.).
  • Reviewing status and tracking progress of group members to maintain project scope/budget and keep the client informed.
  • Routine status meetings.
  • Submitting progress reports.
  • Tracking and resolving open items and emergent project issues.
  • Coordinating completion of project deliverables.

Support design change packages and technical analysis reviews for the detailed design phases for all aspects of electrical engineering work.

Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.

Provide technical oversight, supervision, and reviews for all electrical engineering activities, including:

  • Engineering design change packages for installing, replacing, or upgrading existing plant equipment to ensure long-term reliability.
  • Engineering calculations supporting design change packages, such as AC/DC power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings.
  • Equipment procurement specifications.
  • Bid review evaluation process for potential vendors, including supporting vendor inquiries, developing responses, and tracking questions/responses.

Interface with the client to validate scope and ensure satisfaction. Mentor and guide the development of other electrical engineers. Identify client needs that may lead to strategic opportunities and leverage relationships to develop follow-on work.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 10 years of experience in electrical systems design for nuclear power plants.
  • 3 years of experience leading an engineering design group through all project phases.
  • Experience selecting equipment, materials, and preparing engineering change packages, calculations, and specifications.
  • Experience as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead role.
  • Experience with electrical system design, including low and medium voltage distribution systems.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear station.
  • PE licensure is preferred.
