Job summary

Samtec in Chandler, AZ is seeking an Analog RFIC Design Engineering Co-op. This seasonal, part-time internship is for electrical engineering students, offering hands-on experience in analog/RF IC design from concept to validation.

You will learn Cadence Virtuoso, run simulations, and contribute to bench bring-up and test plans while supporting Production and Applications Engineering teams. Minimum twenty hours per week, schedule with M-F 8AM–6PM; pay is $22 per hour.

Qualifications

• Presently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree program.
• Interest in transistor-level analog circuit design.
• coursework in analog IC design, RF & microwave design, semiconductors, electromagnetism.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulation, and layout of analog/RF IC blocks from concept.
• Learn Cadence Virtuoso for schematics, layouts, and simulations.
• Analyze power consumption and performance of circuits.
• Assist in bench bring-up, test plans, and validation.
• Support Production and Applications Engineering teams.

The schedule would be a minimum of twenty hours per week. Hours may vary but are flexible, ideally support is needed from M-F 8AM - 6PM. Pay is $22.00 per hour. Co-ops are eligible to participate in our student program for tuition assistance. They may also opt to participate in Samtec's 401k plan.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Design, simulation, and layout of Analog/RF Integrated Circuit blocks, starting from concept and transistor-level feasibility studies
• Learn to use Cadence Virtuoso design suite for simulation and creating schematics, symbols, and layouts
• Learn IC design methodology flow
• Analysis of power consumption, component stress and worst case performance
• Measure design parameters of fabricated ICs
• Complete circuit design and participate in design review process
• Participate in defining bench bring-up and test plans for validation and characterization of designs from prototypes to mass production
• Technical presentations
• Engineering support to Production and Applications Engineering teams
• Familiarity with common lab tools such as soldering iron, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, etc.

Experience:

• Presently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree Program
• An interest in transistor level, analog circuit design
• Previous or current coursework in:
  • Analog IC design
  • RF and Microwave circuit design
  • Semiconductors
  • Electromagnetism
