Job summary

Barge Design Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineering Associate to join our Facilities Engineering Solution Center in Nashville. You will contribute to electrical system design across industrial, commercial, and healthcare projects, delivering plans and reports that support safe, reliable power for critical facilities.

Ideal candidates hold a ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering, an active EIT, and 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD or Revit.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • EIT Certification is required or preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in the electrical engineering industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering documents.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project team members, client representatives, and review agencies to prepare reports or detailed designs.
  • Prepare engineering and design documents using CAD to generate 2D and 3D models and plans.
  • Assist in analysis or modification of reports, specifications, plans, permits, and designs; perform lighting photometric designs.
  • Perform electrical calculations for voltage drop, cable sizing, service sizing, panelboard, and equipment designs.
  • Conduct electrical studies including short-circuit analysis, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
  • Coordinate with civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical disciplines to complete designs.
  • Participate in project site visits and construction administration tasks.

What We're Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineering Associate to join our Facilities Engineering Solution Center. This role supports the design and development of electrical systems for a diverse portfolio of industrial, commercial, and healthcare projects, contributing to solutions that power critical infrastructure and enhance the built environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to provide a comprehensive project report or detailed design.
  • Prepare engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software to generate 2D and 3D models and plans.
  • Assists in the analysis or preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, permits, and designs for project
    Perform lighting photometric designs.
  • Perform electrical calculations for voltage drop and cable sizing, electrical service sizing, panelboard, and electrical equipment designs.
  • Perform electrical studies including short circuit analysis, coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines including civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical engineering to complete detailed designs.
  • Participate in project site visits with other project team members as needed.
  • Participate in Construction Administration of projects by reviewing submittals, assisting engineers in responding to requests for information from contractors.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail.
  • Able to learn and implement code requirements on projects including National Electrical Code, standard operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested
Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • EIT Certification
  • At least 2+ years of experience in the industry is preferred
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal/communication and teamworking skills
