Job summary

MissionHires is seeking an electronics engineer to design challenging problems and evaluate AI outputs against professional standards. You will compare model versions, critique derivations, and document failures, contributing expertise across analog, RF, and power systems.

The role emphasizes clear explanation of errors and the ability to learn new AI tools, with a remote, flexible schedule and project-based compensation.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English at a native or bilingual level.
  • At least 2 years of industry experience in circuit or electronics engineering.
  • Background in electrical/electronics engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Strong command of circuit analysis, design tradeoffs, and component/system decisions.
  • Ability to explain why an engineering answer is incorrect, not just that it is.
  • Comfort using AI tools or willing to learn them quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Design realistic electrical/electronics problems based on professional practice.
  • Run problems through frontier AI models and compare outputs to standards.
  • Compare model versions using identical prompts and evaluate performance.
  • Critique model-generated derivations and calculations, documenting reasoning.
  • Identify and document specific failures such as sign errors, unphysical results, or fabricated datasheet values.
  • Contribute expertise across analog, RF, mixed-signal, electromagnetics, and related areas.

Job description

When AI gets the details wrong in your field, real people pay for it. The people who know the work best have to be the ones training these models. You’re not being replaced by AI. You’re making sure it’s used accurately and safely.

Responsibilities
  • Design challenging, realistic electrical and electronics engineering problems based on professional practice, such as circuit specifications, control-loop stabilization, and power-stage sizing.
  • Run engineering problems through frontier AI models and evaluate outputs against professional engineering standards.
  • Compare model versions using identical prompts and identify which performs better and where each falls short.
  • Critique model-generated derivations, schematics, component selections, and calculations, documenting the reasoning behind evaluations.
  • Identify and document specific failures, including incorrect assumptions, sign or unit errors, unphysical results, invalid topologies, fabricated datasheet values, and off-brief interpretations.
  • Contribute expertise across applicable areas including analog, RF and mixed-signal circuits, electromagnetics and antennas, control and systems, devices and materials, signal processing, photonics, and power and energy systems.
Requirements
  • Fluency in English at a native or bilingual level.
  • At least 2 years of industry experience in circuit or electronics engineering.
  • Background in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong command of circuit analysis, design tradeoffs, and component-level and system-level decision-making.
  • Ability to clearly explain why an engineering answer is incorrect, not only identify that it is incorrect.
  • Comfort using AI tools or ability to learn them quickly.
  • A current, in-progress, or completed Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
  • Must be located in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
  • Ability to receive payment through PayPal.
Benefits
  • Choose the projects you want to work on and when you work.
  • Work remotely on your own schedule using your own computer.
  • Hourly project rates of up to $40 to $125 USD per hour, with bonus rates available for some projects.
  • Work is evaluated based on output quality rather than hours logged.
