Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Florida is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Water and Wastewater team in Tampa or Jacksonville, contributing to planning, design, and implementation of critical water infrastructure projects.

You will work in a multidisciplinary group, with a focus on professional development, technical excellence, and client service, while advancing power distribution, SCADA, and instrumentation projects across municipal facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida, or ability to obtain Florida licensure within twelve (12) months.
• Minimum of 4-7 years of progressive electrical engineering experience, preferably supporting municipal water and wastewater facilities, pumping stations, utility infrastructure, transportation, energy, or industrial projects.
• Experience designing electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities, including low- and medium-voltage power distribution, MCCs, VFDs, standby generators, ATS, lighting/grounding, SCADA and industrial comms, and process instrumentation and control.
• Familiarity with SKMPowerTools, ETAP, or similar software; strong knowledge of codes and standards; proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit (preferred).
• Ability to coordinate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary teams; manage multiple assignments and budgets; strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise in evaluating and resolving electrical and controls engineering challenges.
• Design electrical power distribution, instrumentation, controls, and SCADA systems for water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and reports through all design phases.
• Perform power system studies including short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, and load flow analyses.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated engineering solutions.
• Support projects during construction with RFIs, submittals, field observations, startup assistance, and contractor coordination.
• Conduct technical and quality reviews of engineering deliverables.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management; mentor junior staff.
