Job summary

Hannum Wagle & Cline Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the Water Resources team in our Indianapolis office. The role focuses on power distribution, motor control, lighting, and instrumentation for water-related facilities.

You will develop electrical drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, perform load calculations, and coordinate SCADA/instrumentation with controls and automation. Join a collaborative firm with a strong Midwest presence and a history of excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3–5+ years of electrical engineering and design experience for water, wastewater, or heavy industrial facilities is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems including lighting and power distribution.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, Life Safety Codes, and related standards.
  • Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design power distribution, motor control, lighting, and instrumentation systems for water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities (treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations).
  • Develop electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and circuiting for process and facility electrical systems.
  • Coordinate electrical infrastructure with SCADA and instrumentation needs.
  • Prepare bidding documents and construction specifications for municipal water and wastewater projects.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and code compliance.

Electrical Engineer - Water Resources

Full-Time Indianapolis, IN, US

*This position will report to our Indianapolis, IN office.

Our team is looking for a qualified, ambitious, and enthusiastic Electrical Engineer to support our Water Resources team. We are hiring at our Indianapolis office. WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design power distribution, motor control, lighting, and instrumentation systems for water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities, including treatment plants, pump stations, and lift stations.
  • Develop electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and circuiting for process and facility electrical systems.
  • Work with SCADA and instrumentation systems, coordinating electrical infrastructure with controls and automation needs.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; experience with water/wastewater or other heavy industrial facilities preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in electrical engineering and design, providing electrical and instrumentation designs for water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, including lighting and power distribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Life Safety Codes, and other related codes.
  • Ability to think critically, manage time, and solve problems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
