Job summary

Qualifications

  • Proficient in CAD and BIM tools for electrical design.
  • Familiarity with MEP, fire protection, communications and security systems.
  • Apply building codes and standards to design and review building systems.
  • Expertise in design, development and testing of complex electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems.
  • Deep understanding of high availability and multi-building facilities operations.
  • Ability to resolve highly complex cross-disciplinary problems.
  • Strong communication to engage senior leadership and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose complex electrical system issues and respond to customer requests.
  • Assess functionality and outline vulnerabilities and cascading effects.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and leadership on infrastructure decisions.
  • Develop and apply software and AI tools to carry out facility condition assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors for service delivery.
  • Provide input on infrastructure design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
  • Review power distribution, communications, controls, fire protection and security systems.
  • Design electrical systems to support power, HVAC, and water systems.
  • Conduct electrical studies to determine vulnerabilities in systems.
  • Develop SOPs for design, testing and development of electrical equipment and systems.

Description

The Leidos Intel Sector has an opening for an Electrical Engineer in Reston, Virginia. The successful candidate will work as a member of a government contractor team conducting reverse engineering of above ground and underground structures with an emphasis on urban scene building. Work will be performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment inside a government facility.

Primary Responsibility
  • Diagnose complex electrical system issues and respond to customer and end-user requests for information.

  • Assess functionality of electrical systems and present system vulnerabilities, impacts and outline possible cascading effects.

  • Provide technical support to internal teams and leadership for infrastructure-related decisions.

  • Develop, interpret, and implement the use of software tools and AI tools to carry out facility condition assessments.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure efficient service delivery.

  • Provides professional electrical engineer inputs on infrastructure design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance matters.

  • Provide electrical engineering review of building and facility power distribution, communications, controls, telecommunication and security system.

  • Provide design of electrical systems to support power, communications, controls, fire protection and fire alarm systems, HVAC, and water systems.

  • Perform electrical engineering studies to determine vulnerabilities of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, communications, and security systems.

  • Develop standard operating procedures for design, testing, and development of electrical equipment and systems

Required Qualifications
  • Must possess an active and in-scope TS/SCI Polygraph clearance for consideration. Must be a US Citizen.

  • Requires expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Typically requires BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.

  • Proficient in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) tools in the design of electrical systems.

  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) systems, fire protection systems, communications, controls, and security systems.

  • Demonstrate ability to apply federal, state, local and international building codes and standards in design, review, assessment of building systems and infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the design, development, and testing of complex electrical systems.

  • Familiarity with commercial and industrial control systems

  • Deep understanding of high availability and multi-building electrical facilities operations.

  • Ability to resolve highly complex, multi-disciplinary technical problems across electrical systems.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior leadership and clients on technical strategy and results.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Recognized subject matter expert (SME) in electrical engineering design, commissioning, operations and maintenance for facilities and building infrastructures.

  • Registered Professional Engineering (P.E.) in electrical engineering from any U.S. state or territory.

  • Proven experience with electrical construction, systems integration, and testing in field environments.

  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.

  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other CAD and BIM software tools.

  • Familiarity with python programing, java script, and application of AI tools.

  • Proficiency in the use electrical power systems analysis software tools such as ETAP, SKM, and EasyPower.

Job Information

Pay Range:Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
