Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and integrate electrical subsystems for autonomous maritime systems. You will develop schematics, wire harnesses, and interfaces while collaborating with mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to ensure performance and reliability.

The role requires hands-on testing, troubleshooting across electrical and software boundaries, and delivering solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years design experience.
  • Experience with test plans for complex systems.
  • Familiarity with networking interfaces (Ethernet, CAN, I2C, USB, MODBUS, ProfiNet).
  • Design for signal integrity and power integrity.

Job description

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Costa Mesa, California. You will work closely with the program leadership and a wide spectrum of cross-departments as part of a team focused on solving hard problems and changing the industry forever
  • In this role you will be responsible for designing and supporting the integration of various electrical subsystems, supporting testing efforts, and ensuring overall system performance meets the required specifications and standards
  • Develop electrical schematics, power system single line diagrams, system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses that connect electronic equipment within a subsystem and between subsystems
  • Design electrical interfaces and enclosures for integration of sensors, and peripheral equipment with autonomous systems
  • Troubleshoot issues that span the electrical and software boundaries, with solid skills using both test equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.) and basic software debugging tools
  • Develop subsystems (sensors, interfaces, power management, and networking) for bespoke capabilities
  • Work closely with other electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to deliver fully functional products
  • Work in a fast-paced environment balancing schedule against cost and performance parameters
  • Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews, perform requirements analysis, and plan system verification to ensure compliance with project goals and industry standard

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
  • Competence with test equipment such as multi-meter, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and automation of tests
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits
  • Experience in fieldable system design
  • High-ownership and a bias toward action – if you see a problem, you want to solve and fix it
  • Experience developing schematics, interconnect diagrams, and wiring harnesses
  • Experience in designing and integrating low-power electronics
  • Experience designing electrical and power systems for autonomous systems
  • Experience designing electronic circuits and hardware kits
  • Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies
  • Experience with PCB design including collecting requirements, schematic design (Altium, Eagle), component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug and system integration
  • Experience with high reliability and/or autonomous systems
  • Comfortable in conducting worst case circuit or uncertainty and fault analysis
  • Familiarity with software development processes and tools such as git, Github, JIRA, etc
  • Familiarity with designing for rugged environments
