Job summary

Quest Global seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer for an on-site Tulsa, OK role. You will design electrical panels, power distribution, MCCs, and cabling for ESP and downhole equipment, leveraging SolidWorks integration.

Responsibilities include component selection, standards compliance (NEC, IEEE, IEC, API, ATEX), BOMs, ECNs, and supporting testing with manufacturing teams. Requires a bachelor’s degree and 3–5+ years in oil & gas design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 3–5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, oil & gas sector.
• Experience with ESP, PCP, Rod Lift or VFDs in oilfield environments.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks; knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Electrical design and modeling for ESP and downhole equipment.
• Use SolidWorks / SolidWorks Electrical for 3D wire routing and schematics.
• Select components (VFDs, transformers, breakers, PLCs, sensors).
• Ensure NEC/IEEE/IEC/API/ATEX compliance for hazardous locations.
• Produce ECNs, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and technical specs.
• Collaborate with prototype and manufacturing for testing and commissioning.

What You Will Do

• Electrical Design & Modeling: Design electrical control panels, power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), and cabling layouts specifically for ESP and downhole equipment.
• SolidWorks Integration: Utilize SolidWorks / SolidWorks Electrical to create 3D wire routing, electrical schematics, panel layouts, and enclosure designs, ensuring seamless integration with mechanical assemblies.
• Component Selection: Specify and select electrical components including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), transformers, circuit breakers, PLCs, sensors, and connectors capable of withstanding harsh oilfield environments.
• Standard Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards such as NEC, IEEE, IEC, API, and ATEX/IECEx for hazardous locations.
• Documentation: Generate comprehensive Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), wiring diagrams, and technical specifications for manufacturing and field operations teams.
• Testing & Commissioning: Collaborate with prototype and manufacturing teams to support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electrical systems.

Required Qualifications

What You Will Bring:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, specifically within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Domain Expertise: Proven track record working with Oil & Gas systems (e.g., Electric Submersible Pumps (ESP), Progressive Cavity Pumps (PCP), Rod Lift, or Variable Speed Drives).
• Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (SolidWorks Electrical or 3D routing experience is highly preferred). Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Experience with thermal management and structural considerations for outdoor/desert/marine electrical enclosures.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with mechanical and software teams.

Pay Range: $75K-$85K

Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.

This role is considered an on-site position located in Tulsa, OK

• You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
• Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
