Job summary

Xcimer Energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer to own the end‑to‑end electrical system implementation for next‑gen fusion hardware at our Denver headquarters. You will oversee low voltage power distribution, protection, harnesses, and the design of control panels and interfaces.

The role emphasizes system thinking, high quality documentation, and collaboration with Controls, Mechanical, Safety, and Operations to ensure robust, build‑ready designs for mission‑critical equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience owning electrical system design for complex hardware systems.
  • Strong background in power distribution, protection, grounding, and electrical safety.
  • Experience designing control panels, cabinets, and electrical packaging.
  • Experience creating and maintaining electrical P&IDs, process diagrams, or electrical interface diagrams for complex systems.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, ABB, Beckhoff.
  • Ability to produce build-ready electrical documentation.
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, UL 508A, NFPA 70/79, ANSI/ISA‑5.1 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Own electrical architecture and implementation for subsystems, translating requirements into safe, compliant designs.
  • Design signal distribution and protection schemes including grounding and fault protection.
  • Lead design of control panels, cabinets, and electrical packaging.
  • Own cable and harness architecture, interface definitions and routing.
  • Develop and maintain electrical P&IDs and interface diagrams.
  • Use P&IDs to coordinate Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, Safety, and Operations.
  • Ensure consistency across diagrams and wiring documentation.
  • Produce build-ready electrical design packages with supporting docs.
  • Support design reviews, hazard analyses, safety reviews, and commissioning.
  • Lead failure analysis and drive corrective actions.

This is a full-time, onsite role based at our headquarters in Denver, CO.

As an Electrical Engineer — Signal Distribution & Controls Packaging, you will apply your skills to own and deliver end‑to‑end electrical system implementation, including low voltage power distribution and protection, control panels and cabinets, harnessing, and electrical process and interface diagrams (P&IDs). We are looking for engineers who bring strong technical depth, systems thinking, and a commitment to quality to help build the electrical foundation of next‑generation fusion systems.

Responsibilities
  • Own electrical architecture and implementation for assigned subsystems, translating system and control requirements into safe, compliant electrical designs
  • Design and own signal distribution and protection schemes, including grounding, shielding, fault protection, and electrical safety considerations
  • Lead the design of control panels, cabinets, and electrical packaging, with a focus on robustness, serviceability, and scalability
  • Own cable and harness architecture, including interface definition, routing strategy, and documentation
  • Develop and maintain electrical‑focused P&IDs and interface diagrams describing power, signal, interlock, and utility interfaces
  • Use P&IDs as a cross‑disciplinary communication tool between Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, Safety, and Operations
  • Ensure consistency between P&IDs, schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and control I/O definitions
  • Produce complete, build‑ready electrical design packages, including P&IDs, schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, ICDs, BOMs, and supporting documentation
  • Support design reviews, hazard analyses, safety reviews, system integration, commissioning, and bring‑up activities
  • Lead electrical failure analysis and root‑cause investigations, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement
  • Design electrical systems, panels, harnesses, and documentation in accordance with applicable internal and industry standards, including IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑J‑STD‑001, UL 508A, NFPA 70/79, and ANSI/ISA‑5.1 for P&IDs
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience: 5+ Years of Experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience owning electrical system design for complex hardware systems
  • Strong background in power distribution, protection, grounding, and electrical safety
  • Experience designing control panels, cabinets, and electrical packaging
  • Experience creating and maintaining electrical P&IDs, process diagrams, or electrical interface diagrams for complex systems
  • Familiarity with common offerings from large electrical distributors like Rockwell Automation, Siemens, ABB, and Beckhoff
  • Ability to produce clear, build‑ready electrical documentation
  • Familiarity with industry standards applicable to electrical systems, including cable and wire harness standards (IPC/WHMA‑A‑620), electrical panel standards (UL 508A, NFPA 70/79), and P&ID standards (ANSI/ISA‑5.1)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired
  • Experience using P&IDs in safety reviews, commissioning, or operational documentation
  • Hands‑on experience with harness and cable design
  • Experience supporting system integration, commissioning, and failure analysis
  • Background working closely with controls, mechanical, and systems engineering teams
