Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the development of advanced military systems. You will design, analyze, and test electrical circuits and hardware for military applications, develop schematics, perform circuit analysis, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams through the product lifecycle. A U.S.

citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required. Roles may be at Electrical Engineer 2 or 3 level depending on qualifications; strong problem-solving

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field with 2+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance (clearance not required to start)
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical circuit design and hardware development
  • Experience developing, analyzing, or interpreting electrical schematics through professional work, internships, research, or academic engineering projects
  • Familiarity with schematic-capture, circuit-simulation, or other electrical CAD tools
  • Understanding of electronic components and ability to read and interpret component datasheets
  • Familiarity with laboratory test equipment and basic circuit test and troubleshooting techniques
  • Basic understanding of RF/microwave fundamentals or demonstrated interest in developing RF/microwave engineering skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary engineering team

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and test electrical circuits and hardware for military applications
  • Develop and review electrical schematics using electronic design and schematic-capture tools
  • Perform circuit analysis, simulation, component selection, and design verification
  • Support PWB layout and work with board designers to implement electrical design requirements
  • Support board bring-up, hardware integration, laboratory testing, and troubleshooting
  • Identify and resolve board- and system-level electrical performance, interface, component, and integration issues
  • Support RF/microwave design and analysis activities involving RF signal paths, amplifiers, filters, switches, transmission lines, impedance matching, and frequency-conversion circuitry
  • Support electrical and RF testing using applicable laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, and other test equipment
  • Collaborate with electrical, RF, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Document designs, analyses, test results and support technical reviews and program milestones
  • This position may be filled at the Electrical Engineer 2 or 3 level, based on the candidate’s qualifications, including education and relevant experience

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance (clearance not required to start)
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical circuit design and hardware development
  • Experience developing, analyzing, or interpreting electrical schematics through professional work, internships, research, or academic engineering projects
  • Familiarity with schematic-capture, circuit simulation, or other electrical CAD tools
  • Understanding of electronic components and ability to read and interpret component datasheets
  • Familiarity with laboratory test equipment and basic circuit test and troubleshooting techniques
  • Basic understanding of RF/microwave fundamentals or demonstrated interest in developing RF/microwave engineering skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics/Siemens EDA or similar schematic-capture and PWB design tools.
  • Experience supporting PWB layout, fabrication, assembly, board bring-up, or troubleshooting.
  • Experience with circuit design, analysis, component selection, and hardware development.
  • Coursework, research, internship, or professional experience involving RF/microwave circuits, antennas, or electromagnetics.
  • Familiarity with RF/microwave components such as filters, amplifiers, mixers, switches, attenuators, and frequency-conversion devices.
  • Familiarity with RF measurements including S-parameters, impedance matching, insertion loss, return loss, or antenna measurements.
  • Experience or familiarity with RF test equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and RF power meters.
  • Familiarity with circuit or electromagnetic simulation tools such as SPICE, ADS, Ansys HFSS, Ansys SIWave, CST, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, shielding, and EMI/EMC concepts.
  • Familiarity with PWB/PCB manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
  • Experience developing electronics for high-reliability, military, aerospace, or harsh-environment applications.

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
