Join to apply for the Electrical Engineer - Renewable Energy role at Kimley-Horn

Kimley-Horn's Charlotte, North Carolina (NC) office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Renewable Energy team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of electrical systems including renewable generation, energy storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, building electrical, and battery storage projects
  • Perform design on a wide variety of projects, such as photometrics and lighting, power distribution, EV charging, and more
  • Develop design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, equipment schematics, electrical system calculations, and one-line diagrams
  • Collaborate daily with multidisciplinary teams across Kimley-Horn offices
  • Prepare project specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and proposals to support growth in electrical engineering services locally and nationally
  • Assist in mentoring, training, and expanding the Renewable Energy team
  • Develop reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, EV charging infrastructure, equipment selection, solar system sizing, and power analyses
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings
  • Teamwork skills, including mentoring junior staff
  • Preferred: Experience in utility-scale PV, MEP, HVAC, wind, energy storage, EV infrastructure, microgrids, substations, or data centers; project management; proficiency in AutoCAD; power system analysis; transient studies; lighting design; programming in Python or MATLAB
