Job description

Bowman is seeking an experienced Professional Electrical Engineer with expertise in commercial and utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) system design to join our growing, remote-based team. Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight
Provide expert-level engineering input across diverse PV and energy storage projects.

Mentor and guide team members, reviewing deliverables for quality assurance.

Lead coordination with clients, utilities, and project stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.

Design & Technical Execution
Develop complete electrical plan sets: layouts, single-line diagrams, and equipment details.

Perform advanced electrical studies: load flow, arc flash, short circuit, protection coordination.

Review and sign off on final designs as a licensed Professional Engineer.

Use modeling tools like PVsyst, Helioscope, or Homer for system simulation and performance analysis.

Design both AC and DC systems, including medium voltage and utility interconnections.

Apply NEC, NESC, IEEE, and other applicable standards in all project phases.

Project & Client Engagement
Serve as a technical liaison between the project team and clients, utilities, and contractors.

Participate in project meetings, site visits, and construction administration tasks.

Provide time and resource estimates, track progress, and report to senior management.

Drive continuous improvement by contributing to design templates, standards, and best practices.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

5+ years of experience in solar PV design.

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Proven expertise in medium voltage design and interconnection.

Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Proficient in using software such as SKM, ETAP, PVsyst, or equivalent tools.

Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and utility interconnection processes.

Energy storage system design and shading analysis experience is highly desirable.

Strong communication skills and ability to lead project teams effectively.

Must hold or be willing to establish an NCEES record.
