Job description

Amentum is seeking a highly motivated and talented Electrical Engineer (Pulsed Power)-Junior to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects.

Electrical Engineer (Pulsed Power)-Junior job responsibilities include:

  1. Works with the pulser team in both an indoor and outdoor lab environment, to prepare and execute test activities
  2. Supports MIL-STD-3023 High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse testing for various military aircraft, weapons and communication systems
  3. Builds, operates and troubleshoots electromagnetic pulse simulators, high voltage/high current equipment and specialized components
  4. Calibrates, maintains and organizes specialized test equipment
  5. Researches and develops current electromagnetic pulse simulators/subsystems to improve reliability/performance
  6. Interacts/Coordinates with customers, contractors, subcontractors, technical leads, program managers, supervisors and executive supervisors to perform roles and responsibilities

Must-haves:

  1. BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or other field with experience in pulsed power engineering, applied electromagnetics or high energy physics
  2. The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills:

  1. Experience performing magnetic/electrical field analysis of pulse forming networks using field sensors, fiber optics, oscilloscopes and signal processing software
  2. Familiarity of engineering design tools such as MATLAB, LABVIEW, CAD software (AutoCAD or Solidworks), Circuit Modeling software (Pspice or equivalent), etc.
  3. Knowledge of pulse forming networks involving high voltage pulsed power supplies and fast switching devices from a theoretical or practical standpoint
  4. Knowledge of analog and digital technologies
  5. Knowledge of the practical use of RF test equipment (oscilloscopes, VNA's, etc.)
