Job summary

CalPortland seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical control, radio communications, monitoring systems, and related software at the Oro Grande plant. You will design, program, and maintain instrument/analyzer systems and assist IT network and data historians like OSI Pi.

Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 5-7 years in industrial manufacturing/mining settings, with travel as needed. Competitive salary and benefits accompany a salaried role at CalPortland.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of related experience in an industrial manufacturing/mining setting.
• Willing and able to work flexible hours to maintain plant instrument/analyzer systems.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and keep pace with advancing technology.
• Ability to read/edit process flow drawings and create logic decision charts.
• Strong communications and management skills; able to coordinate with vendors.
• Ability to travel to company facilities and other meeting locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the plant automation/electrical team with operation, maintenance, and programming of plant instrument/analyzer systems.
• Maintain instrument/analyzer/electrical systems, server-based high-level analyzers, and data historians such as OSI PI.
• Support CIS with maintenance of corporate IT network.
• Develop new control system applications for projects with plant team.
• Identify improvements with energy team and participate in energy audits.
• Assist with capital projects including sizing of conductors and protective devices; load calculations.
• Identify worn components; provide field inspections and supervision for electrical work.
• Support plant by diagnosing and correcting electrical problems.
• Provide technical and safety training to Plant Electricians.
• Update designs and drawings for replacement components; apply corporate standards and new technologies.
• Replace or upgrade worn components; design and modify instrument/analyzer systems.
• Create and submit capital proposals.
