Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design on large institutional and industrial projects in Phoenix. You will coordinate design teams, ensure code compliance, and manage documents through schematic and contract document phases.

The role requires 3+ years of building electrical design experience, a PE license, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, ETAP, and related tools. HDR values employee ownership, inclusion, and mentoring junior staff on diverse projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • Requires Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through schematic design and contract document phases.
  • Establish meetings and participate in code reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule.
  • Conduct work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Review electrical documents for conflicts with all disciplines.
  • Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices.
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and changes orders, incorporating agreed changes into documents.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers and Technicians; mentor less-experienced staff.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Electrical Engineer we'll count on you to:
  • Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project

  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
  • Provide mentoring and oversight for less-experienced staff on projects including Federal, Laboratory, Higher Education, and Data Center & Semiconductor.
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • Experience with SKM, ETAP, Revit, and BlueBeam are preferred
