Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical Engineer (PE) for buildings to lead electrical design on large institutional and industrial projects in Phoenix. The role emphasizes code compliance, coordination with design teams, and delivery of robust electrical systems.

You will coordinate with project teams, conduct site reviews, write specifications, and mentor junior staff while ensuring QA/QC and timely project completion. HDR values inclusion and employee ownership.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • Experience with architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firms preferred.
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED preferred but not required.
  • Experience with SKM, ETAP, Revit, and BlueBeam are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase.
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule.
  • Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
  • Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices.
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians.
  • Provide mentoring and oversight for less-experienced staff on projects including Federal, Laboratory, Higher Education, and Data Center & Semiconductor.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Electrical Engineer we'll count on you to:

Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • Experience with SKM, ETAP, Revit, and BlueBeam are preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
