Job summary

Knobelsdorff is seeking an electrical engineer to support its Energy division on solar and BESS projects. You will design, analyze, and optimize electrical systems, ensuring constructible, code-compliant designs that meet safety commitments and project goals.

You’ll collaborate with project managers, customers, and regulators, perform site reviews, and help with permitting and interconnection. A strong CAD/tooling background and field-ready mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in solar, renewable energy, or power systems design.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC and renewable energy standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PVCase, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze electrical systems for solar and BESS installations.
  • Create system layouts, stringing plans, voltage drop calcs, and specifications.
  • Support construction with site visits and technical reviews.
  • Develop and maintain system drawings, equipment specifications, and reports.
  • Ensure NEC/NESC compliance and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, customers, and regulators.
  • Review vendor submittals and coordinate with procurement.
  • Maintain documentation within project databases.
  • Provide feedback and improvements based on field conditions.
  • Assist with permitting and interconnection requirements.
  • Travel to job sites as needed.

Job Purpose

This role supports the Energy division by providing electrical engineering support on solar and BESS projects. You’ll be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing electrical systems that directly impact technical quality, field performance, and customer satisfaction. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in solar, renewable energy, or power systems design
  • Working knowledge of the NEC and applicable renewable energy standards
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PVCase, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check

Preferred Experience

  • DC and AC electrical systems, including low‑voltage (LV) and medium‑voltage (MV)
  • Electrical drawing sets and single‑line diagrams (SLDs)
  • Material takeoffs
  • Equipment approval drawings and submittals
  • Constructability reviews
  • Field or construction experience

Pay Range

We believe in paying for the value you bring to the team, and we aim to be competitive in every market we hire in.
Pay Range: $85,000 – $120,000 per year plus discretionary incentive opportunities
