Qualifications

Job Opening: Electrical Engineer - Lighting Engineer

The ideal location for this position is in our main offices; however, it can also be based in Orlando, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, or Miami. Candidates should be able to plan and organize workload efficiently, work well with a team, demonstrate a commitment to quality, possess good communication skills, and maintain a positive work ethic. Experience with Florida Department of Transportation projects is preferred.

Responsibilities
  1. Project Management
  2. Proposal preparation
  3. Project and budget coordination
  4. Technical coordination with clients, prime consultants, and external stakeholders
  5. Perform quality traffic design, including lighting, ITS, and electrical design
  6. Prepare and review mark-ups on assignments
  7. Write technical reports such as Lighting Design Analysis Reports (LDAR), Power Design Analysis Reports (PDAR), and Lighting Justification Reports (LJR)
  8. Conduct plan reviews for program management or plan review contracts
  9. Perform photometric calculations using AGI-32 software
  10. Perform electrical calculations (load analysis, voltage drop, short circuit, arc flash hazard analysis, device coordination) using SKM Power Tools
  11. Attend field visits and meetings during design and post-design phases
  12. Support post-design services: shop drawing reviews, revisions, RFI responses, field visits, project close-outs
  13. Ensure quality assurance/quality control of all deliverables
  14. Participate in training opportunities (FDOT design, IMSA certifications, NFPA, IEEE, IES)
  15. Supervise and mentor technical staff and future hires
  16. Assist in marketing pursuits
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in lighting and/or ITS CAD plans, preferably in transportation projects for agencies like FDOT, MDX, MDC, CFX
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, Geopak, AutoCAD
  • Experience with ORD / FDOTConnect
  • Knowledge of NEC and NESC standards
  • Strong organizational skills and sense of urgency
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Excellent communication skills
