Job summary

Ideal Aerosmith is hiring Electrical Engineers across multiple experience levels, with the level selected based on experience and ability to independently lead increasingly complex engineering work. This role designs, develops, integrates, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems used in aerospace test and motion-control solutions, spanning motors, drives, controls, and hardware/software integration.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years electrical engineering experience.
  • U.S. citizenship or allowed status per contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical system components for aerospace products.
  • Create drawings, wiring diagrams, and component specs.
  • Develop system integration documentation and user materials.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure easy assembly and maintenance.
  • Review SOWs and assess impact on design and testing.
  • Lead test procedures to verify compliance with standards.
  • Provide electrical support during integration and customer service.
  • Prepare material, labor, and schedule estimates.
  • Support ISO 9001 compliance and EOS guidelines.

Ideal Aerosmith is hiring Electrical Engineers across multiple experience levels, Electrical Engineer II (or higher) Electrical Engineers. The level selected will be based on the candidate's experience, technical depth, scope of responsibility, and ability to independently lead increasingly complex engineering work.

This role designs, develops, integrates, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems used in Ideal Aerosmith's aerospace test and motion-control solutions. Engineers may work across servo systems, motors and drives, feedback devices, industrial controls, power systems, analog and digital circuitry, and hardware/software integration.

Location & Work Arrangement

We're flexible on where the right engineer works. This position may be:

  • On-site at our Grand Forks, North Dakota headquarters
  • Hybrid at our Grand Forks, North Dakota headquarters
  • Remote within North Dakota or Minnesota

This role requires approximately 25%+ travel to Ideal Aerosmith facilities, customer locations, and project sites. Some travel may be international.

Job Responsibilities
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to design and develop system components for Ideal Aerosmith products.
  • Create detailed technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and component specifications.
  • Develop system integration documentation, user manuals, and support materials.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure ease of assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Review customer Statements of Work (SOW) and assess their impact on system design and testing.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute test procedures to verify compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with engineers, project managers, and customers to define and deliver engineering solutions.
  • Provide expert electrical support during system integration and customer service activities.
  • Prepare estimates for materials, labor, and schedule planning for new projects.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives and ensure ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Participate and lead within the guidelines of the Entrepreneurial Operation System (EOS).
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other regulatory standards.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience required.
  • Candidates with significantly greater experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered for higher-level positions, up to Principal Electrical Engineer.
  • Ability to travel (domestic and internationally) and obtain a passport.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3).
Skill Requirements
  • Strong foundation in mechatronics, including:
    • Motors/Drives
    • Feedback Device
    • Electrical Hardware/Software Integration
    • Industrial Controls/PLC's and Power Systems
  • Knowledge of kinematics and thermodynamics.
  • Familiarity with popular programming languages like C/C++, C#, JavaScript, etc.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical systems effectively.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation/keyboard.
  • Ability to type accurately and efficiently.
  • The position will require walking, standing, squatting, crouching, stooping, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, sitting, repetitive motion and kneeling.
