Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Electrical Engineer at Level 2 or 3 to support the GMD Weapon System hardware engineering team in Huntsville. You will develop and maintain electrical drawings for ground system hardware, ensuring interfaces with facilities and PLM systems, and contribute to team dashboards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a STEM field with experience or a Master’s with fewer years; travel up to 10% and a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 0 - 2 years of related experience.
  • Principal Electrical Engineer – Level 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 3 years of related experience; or a PhD and 1 year of related work experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
  • Ability to communicate data in a clear and concise manner.
  • 2 years of recent professional experience using a CAD Package such as Visio, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CREO, Siemens Capital Suites (Logic/Harness), or NX to develop technical drawings.
  • Experience in two or more of the following areas: electrical/power system design, network communication system design, cable harness fabrication design, and perform electrical load analysis.
  • Understanding and application of industry and company electrical engineering technical standards and procedures; demonstrated electrical component design experience and impact assessment / trade studies development.
  • Prior experience with engineering PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP system such as SAP.

Position Overview

As an Electrical Engineer – Level 2 or 3 you will support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Hardware Engineering team's design efforts working within an Agile environment. Your core tasks will entail developing and maintaining Electrical drawings for multiple Ground Systems (GS) IPT hardware systems and their interfaces with facilities. Under the direction of your program leadership, responsibilities include developing rack/system level drawings, maintaining drawings PLM system. Accountability and active participation in team meetings and internal/external demos, and documenting progress on team dashboards is expected. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. This requisition may be filled at either a Electrical Engineer – Level 2 or a Principal Electrical Engineer – Level 3.

Essential Functions

Basic Qualifications (Electrical Engineer – Level 2 or 3)
  • Electrical Engineer – Level 2: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 0 - 2 years of related experience.
  • Principal Electrical Engineer – Level 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 3 years of related experience; or a PhD and 1 year of related work experience.

  • Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA‑QS‑001‑MAP, MDA‑QS‑003‑PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process)
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1901A, MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab, TEMPEST 01-13, NEC
  • Familiarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware
  • Experience modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, Visio or other architecture modeling tools
  • Experience in documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents
Primary Level Salary Range

$87,600.00 - $131,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range

$108,800.00 - $163,200.00

Salary and Benefits Overview

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
