Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

The mission of Project Kuiper’s Government Solutions (KGS) team is to leverage existing Kuiper technology and provide high speed, low latency, and secure satellite broadband services to the United States and our allied government customers.

The Electrical Engineer will play a pivotal role in the team delivering analysis and design solutions, focusing on satellite and ground system design, communication and control needs of electronics sub-systems. Responsibilities include schematic design, component selection, circuit analysis, simulation, layout review, and board testing. Collaboration across teams and support for fellow engineers in design reviews and documentation are essential. The candidate should focus on customer needs, conducting trades and analyses to meet goals.

The ideal candidate will have experience with complex programs, lead small teams, and produce clear, technical reports. US citizenship and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance are required.

Key job responsibilities

• Interact with customers to understand requirements and develop robust solutions.
• Design electrical circuits for RF and communication payloads, including processing, memory, and buses.
• Experience with Analog Power, Digital Design, FPGA, MCU, Memory, Transceivers, and clock systems.
• Analyze circuits using performance software, including SI and PI for PCB designs.
• Translate customer requirements into high-quality designs.
• Perform trade studies for system architecture and cost vs. design uncertainty.
• Document designs and support test campaigns for space hardware.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in hardware development across the product lifecycle.
• 5+ years in space, aerospace, defense, automotive, or communications fields.
• Experience with schematic, layout, and PCB debugging.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Experience with high-speed, high-reliability, or space hardware design.
• Knowledge of radiation-hardened electronics and satellite systems.
• Programming skills in Python or C/C++.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience working with government agencies.
