Job summary

Vermeer Corporation is seeking an engineering student for an onsite internship to assist in designing and integrating control systems and vehicle electronics, using foundational electrical engineering principles. You will support schematic creation with CAD tools and troubleshoot CAN networks, performing basic diagnostics in a lab or field setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial/Agricultural engineering or related field.
• Foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles, especially in control systems and vehicle electronics.
• Exposure to CAD tools (Zuken E3, AutoCAD), CAN protocols (SAE J1939), and data acquisition tools (MATLAB, Dewesoft).
• Interest in learning about functional safety and engineering change processes.
• Willingness to perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting in lab or field environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with a growth mindset.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to documentation and design tracking using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as Dassault Systems 3DX, including exposure to Engineering Change Notification (ECN) processes.
• Learn about and support the application of functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 in system design and testing.

What We’re Looking For

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Agricultural Engineering, or relative equivalent discipline.
• Foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles, especially in control systems and vehicle electronics.
• Exposure to CAD tools (e.g., Zuken E3, AutoCAD), CAN protocols (e.g., SAE J1939), and data acquisition tools (e.g., MATLAB, Dewesoft).

Occasional travel is expected of this position.
