NEI Electric Power Engineering in Denver seeks a Electrical Engineer Intern to support design and analysis in the Oil & Gas group under a Professional Engineer's guidance. You will contribute to substation design, power system studies, and documentation, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s in electrical engineering or EE technology with coursework in power systems and AutoCAD, and possess strong communication and organizational

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology.
  • Electrical power option preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and well organized.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced design environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on power delivery projects.
  • Create design products: equipment general arrangements, single line diagrams, elevations, etc.
  • Prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and budget reports.
  • Learn applicable Codes and Standards and safety guidelines.
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules.

Electrical Engineer Intern – Oil & GasAbout the PositionAs an Electrical Engineer Intern in the O&G group, you will support engineering design and analysis under the guidance of a Professional Engineer. You will be part of an integrated design team, coordinating with team members to meet project schedules and deliverables on time and within the defined budget.Hourly Rate: $27.00/hourThe salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.Essential ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to assist in various power delivery projects within the O&G industrial sector, such as substation engineering design, transmission and distribution design, behind the meter power system modeling, as well as other project related tasksAssist in creating design products such as equipment general arrangements, single line diagrams, elevations, connection details, bill of materials, construction details, grounding details, conduit plans, illumination plans, etc.Prepares computer-based models and perform power system studiesSupports electrical power system studies, including equipment sizing, specification, and selection, load flow, reactive power, ampacity, short circuit, grounding, illumination, arc flash, harmonics, system loss, etc.Assists in preparing various documents and reports associated with projects, including cost estimates, budget reports, and studies.Research and develop a strong understanding and comprehension of applicable Codes and Standards.Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines.Other job-related responsibilities as assigned.Must HaveEducation: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred.Experience: Relevant coursework or project experience in engineering.Experience with AutoCAD.Effective written and oral communication skills.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills.Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision-maker comfortable in a fast-paced design environment.Excellent problem-solving skills.Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.Working ConditionsWork Environment:Work is performed in an office setting.Travel:Minimal: 0 – 5%Physical Activities:Must be able to lift 25lbs.About NEI Electric Power EngineeringServing Others.
