Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern - BESS for the Overland Park, KS area. You will join a summer internship focused on electrical deliverables, analyses, and cross-disciplinary collaboration within the Clean Transportation space.

The role requires enrollment in an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program, a GPA of 3.0+, and completion of onboarding requirements. This full-time internship offers hands-on mentorship and exposure to real project work at BV.

Qualifications

• No experience required for a college intern role.
• Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program is expected.
• Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding (background check, drug screen, MVR) as required by policy.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and studies.
• Assist with engineering analyses, designs, and report production.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and help schedule project deliverables.
• Organize and evaluate data, using computer modeling to analyze systems.
• Organize project materials, references, and documentation.

The Opportunity

As a Summer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will help address some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects to meet our clients' needs and contribute to the growth and success of Black & Veatch.

You will be assigned to a functional area in Clean Transportation.

• Hands-on experience at an employee-owned engineering, procurement, consulting, and construction company

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and studies
• Assist with the engineering analyses, designs, and report production
• Collaborate with other disciplines and schedule project deliverables
• Organize and evaluate data, utilizing computer modeling to analyze systems
• Organize project materials, references, and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant coursework or knowledge in Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations
• Understanding of engineering design principles and design guides
• Problem-solving skills, effective written communication, and the ability to build relationships
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Minimum Qualifications

No experience required. Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Electrical Engineering program. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

This intern position is expected to be in the office on a full-time basis.
