Job summary

Accuray is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and develop electronic circuits for cancer treatment systems. You will create schematics, guide PCB layouts, select components, and perform verification tests while supporting FPGA firmware development.

Collaboration with R&D and manufacturing ensures robust hardware and software integration. Candidates bring 5+ years in hardware design, PCB and FPGA experience, and hands-on debugging with lab equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years industry experience.
  • Proficiency with PCB design and digital circuit development (analog a plus).
  • Experience with FPGA development or HDL (VHDL/Verilog).
  • Hands-on electronics debugging and lab instrumentation experience.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot hardware/firmware issues.

Responsibilities

  • Hardware design, research, plan, and develop electronic circuits per product requirements.
  • Design electrical schematics and provide PCB layout guidance; select components.
  • Perform circuit analysis, simulation, verification, and testing.
  • Develop and maintain low-level firmware for FPGAs; debug with lab tools.
  • Integrate boards and firmware into larger system architectures; provide cross-functional support.

Our radiation therapy for cancer makes treatment shorter, safer, personalized and more effective, ultimately enabling patients to live longer, better lives.Job DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesHardware DesignResearch, plan, design, and develop electronic circuit designs in accordance with product requirements as established from various sources, including engineering and specification documents.Design and develop electrical schematics and documentation (including PCB layout guidance)Select and qualify electronic components based on performance, cost, and lifecycle considerationsPerform circuit analysis, simulation, and design verificationSupport prototype debugging and design verification & validation testingDevelop and maintain low-level firmware for FPGAs (microcontroller knowledge considered a plus)Debug hardware/software interactions using lab tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.)System Integration & SupportIntegrate circuit boards and firmware into larger system architecturesDiagnose and resolve cross-functional issues spanning hardware, firmware, and system performanceSupport design changes (ECR/ECO) including impact assessment and verificationPartner with manufacturing to improve design for manufacturability and testability (DFM/DFT)Documentation & ComplianceDevelop and maintain design documentation (schematics, specifications, firmware documentation, test plans, reports)Participates in creation, documentation, and review of design requirements.Group SupportProvides work breakdowns and estimates of effort for personal project work, in conjunction with the Electrical Engineering Manager and Project Managers.Works effectively with other engineering staff, subcontractors, and consultants.-Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years industry experienceProficiency with PCB design and digital circuit development (analog a plus)Experience with FPGA development or HDL (VHDL/Verilog)Hands-on experience with electronics debugging and lab instrumentationAbility to analyze and troubleshoot hardware/firmware issues-Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex hardware system issuesFamiliarity with microcontroller design and programming (C/C++/Python a plus)Familiarity with communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet), and real-time control functionsExperience with medical devices or regulated industriesKnowledge of EMI/EMC considerations and testingExposure to system-level architecture and integration-Key CompetenciesStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work cross-functionally (R&D, Manufacturing, Quality)Clear and concise technical communication and documentation skillsDetail-oriented with a focus on design quality and reliability-Scope & ImpactContributes to end-to-end product development, from design through production supportDirect influence on product performance, reliability, and patient safetyTo qualify for this position, candidates must be able to furnish proof that they are authorized to work in the country they are applying on a permanent basis without sponsorship.EEO StatementAt Accuray, our commitment to patient-first outcomes drives an inclusive and collaborative work environment where the best ideas rise to the top — and everyone works to push them further.
