Job description

METER Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer II or III to help our development teams create great products. An Electrical Engineer is responsible for schematic design, circuit board layout, circuit performance analysis, and troubleshooting. METER designs and manufactures smart sensors, wireless sensor nodes, handheld measurement systems, and communication systems used in environmental research and commercial agricultural applications across the globe.

This role works at our Pullman, WA office.

We anticipate filling this position in the salary range of $87,000 - $130,000 per year. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience; the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our offer will be based on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and analyze embedded electronic circuits for new and existing products using standard best practice principles and techniques for electronic design.
  • Test, validate, and troubleshoot embedded systems.
  • Collaborate and communicate with coworkers, internal development stakeholders, and external development partners regarding product design goals, electrical design choices, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to and maintain design and user documentation.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant, practical experience for Level II; 8+ years for Level III.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States and be willing to live within daily commuting distance of Pullman, WA.
  • Experience in electronic circuit capture and PCB design best practices using CAD software.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and soldering.
  • Experience with microcontroller-based circuit designs for sensor measurement, device communication, and low-power, battery-operated systems.
  • General curiosity to learn new things and a desire to create great products.
  • Background check results satisfactory to METER.
  • At least three professional or academic references.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Altium 365 circuit design tools.
  • Circuit design experience with MSP430 and/or ARM Cortex-M microcontroller families.
  • Experience with mixed-signal components such as ADC, DACs, amplifiers, signal conditioners, etc.
  • Experience with embedded communication hardware including USB, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, SDI-12, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GNSS/GPS, XBee/LoRa radios, and similar technologies.
  • Experience with solar energy harvesting and battery charging ICs.
  • Experience with computer-based scripting (Python preferred).
  • Experience with embedded firmware development in C.
