Electrical Engineer II, Neutron Recovery

Join Rocket Lab's pioneering team as an Electrical Engineer II focused on Neutron Recovery. This role is based in Long Beach, CA, or Middle River, MD, and involves designing electrical equipment for recovery assets supporting Neutron's downrange recovery operations.

Role Overview

The Electrical Engineer II – Neutron Recovery will collaborate with teams across Ground Systems, GNC, Software, Avionics, Mechanical Systems, and Propulsion to develop and support electrical hardware for recovery operations, including hardware design, testing, and integration.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop electrical systems for recovery assets, including power distribution, switch gear, motor control centers, power electronics, ATS & UPS, marine wiring, VFDs, and marine electrical systems (110V-690V AC).
  2. Support fabrication, testing, and deployment of recovery hardware both remotely and onsite.
  3. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure hardware meets mission requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, naval, marine, systems, aerospace engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in designing, building, or maintaining complex marine or electrical hardware.
  • Experience leading technical projects or teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in maritime or electrical fields, especially designing marine electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret power/control schematics and work with industrial controls and drives.
  • Background in aerospace, automotive, or marine electrical systems.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working in fast-paced, remote environments.

Additional Requirements

  • Visual acuity and physical ability to perform job functions, including travel to various facilities.
  • Compliance with US export regulations (ITAR) for US-based roles.
