Job summary

TropiTech Solutions seeks an Electrical Engineer II to contribute to the design, analysis, and execution of electrical projects in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

You will engage in conceptual design, detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning, and troubleshooting while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Experience with renewable energy systems, microgrids, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and industrial controls is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 5–10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of medium- and low-voltage power systems, NEC, and motor control.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations and construction documents.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, power system software (SKM/ETAP/EasyPower) and Revit desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power distribution systems for industrial, commercial, utility, and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, and equipment sizing calculations.
• Develop one-line diagrams, equipment layouts, panel schedules, and construction packages.
• Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, and controls disciplines.
• Support field investigations, site visits, equipment inspections, and commissioning activities.
• Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and installation practices.
• Assist with project budgeting, scheduling, and technical execution.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
• Troubleshoot electrical system issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Support client meetings and contribute to project presentations.
