Job summary

Lucid Motors is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer, Inverter to drive design intent and EOL test specs for inverter power electronics. You will collaborate with core engineering to ensure validation and design intent are met, addressing root causes and implementing robust corrective actions.

Responsibilities include leading problem solving, supporting product launches and high-volume ramp, and enforcing assembly requirements on the line with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with automotive experience
  • Six Sigma certification or equivalent quality experience is preferred
  • EIT certification or engineering fundamentals certification is a plus
  • Collegiate motorsport experience (FSAE/Baja) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex component/system level problems in inverter power electronics and software interfaces
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement containment and corrective actions
  • Establish technical depth to troubleshoot inverter power electronics and test equipment
  • Lead design intent assembly requirements and enforce on the production line
  • Support new product launches and high-volume production ramp activities
  • Contribute to build process improvements for high-volume production
  • Lead product change management for known issues with cross-functional teams

Position Overview

Sr. Electrical Engineer, Inverter is responsible for design intent assembly requirements of Inverter Power Electronics & associated EOL test specifications. Responsible for root cause analysis of product issues, interim containment action development/verification/implementation, & permanent corrective action development/verification/implementation where applicable with close collaboration with core engineering to ensure design intent & validation requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Solve complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques for inverter power electronics & associated software interface
  • Data driven proactive problem solving, root cause analysis & issue avoidance due to process deviations or critical part quality issues
  • Establish technical depth to troubleshoot all Inverter Power Electronics components and associated interface EOL test equipment/test specifications
  • Responsible for design intent assembly requirements for Inverter Power Electronics assembly & associated enforcement on the line in close collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Support new product launches, execute part concession deviations for Inverter Power Electronics & associated test specification in the manufacturing plant
  • Support high volume production ramp activities pertaining to product engineering activities
  • Advice on build process development and possible improvements for high volume production lines
  • Lead product change management to address known product compatibility issues for high volume production or known product design issues in production in close collaboration with cross-functional teams where appropriate
Skills
  • Structured product problem-solving and root cause analysis using industry-standard techniques
  • Advanced data analysis using statistical methods and tools such as Minitab, JMP, Python, and MATLAB
  • Technical expertise in Inverter Power Electronics, including associated interfaces and troubleshooting
  • Expertise in analog and digital electronic circuits
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, probes, power analyzers, and DC/AC power supplies
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility and Power Electronics functional testing
  • Knowledge of communication protocols and associated troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, DVP&R, DFM/DFA, and RCA
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tools, including Jira and Confluence
  • Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, and technical documentation skills
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with 5+ years of automotive experience in vehicle attribute design and release, or a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with 6+ years of relevant automotive experience
  • Prior experience in a resident product engineering role within a manufacturing plant
  • Experience in the development or improvement of Power Electronics products
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification or certification in engineering fundamentals
  • Collegiate FSAE, BAJA, or similar experience is preferred
